This role provides an excellent opportunity to increase the City of Corning’s visibility and strengthen connections with building and safety professionals throughout the region.

Safety Spotlight: Fire Hardening
With wildfire risks continuing to rise, homeowners can significantly improve their property’s safety through fire hardening. This involves using ignition-resistant materials and maintaining defensible space to reduce the spread of fire to your home.
Key steps include:

  • Installing Class A roofing, ember-resistant vents, dual-pane windows, and non-combustible siding.
  • Keeping roofs and gutters free of debris.
  • Maintaining at least 100 feet of defensible space by trimming trees and removing dry vegetation.

Fire hardening not only protects individual homes—it strengthens the overall resilience of our community.
