CITY MANAGER:

PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC PUBLIC SAFETY POWER SHUT-OFF (PSPS) EVENT:
Portions of Corning may be shut off due to a PSPS Event beginning Saturday at 9:00am and ending on Sunday around 5:00pm.

REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES:
The City Council will consider issuance of a Request for Qualifications for Architectural Services to design the Recreation Center, City Plaza, and Amphitheater.

BARGAINING UNIT NEGOTATIONS:
Bargaining Unit Negotiations were held with all four Units on October 18th. We will meet again on November 1st.

2nd QUARTER 2022 SALES TAX RESULTS:
I will be meeting with HdL on Friday, October 21st to discuss the second quarter 2022 Sales Tax results.

PUBLIC WORKS:

Community Event/Street Impact:
• A Movie in the Park will take place this Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Northside Park, 1414 Colusa Street. The movie will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. (dusk).
• Treat Street will be on Monday, October 31, 2022 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Solano Street will be closed form 1:30pm to approximately 5:30pm for the event between 3rd Street and 6th Street for the safety of the participants.

Water Main/Service Repairs:
• Multiple water service lines have been repaired this week by staff.
• Staff is aware of the water leak on Marguerite Avenue and has been actively trying to locate the exact location of the leak. Once the source is determined staff will continue with the repair.

PLANNING:

October 18, 2022 Planning Commission Meeting:
At the Tuesday, October 18, 2022 Planning Commission Meeting, the Commission heard a presentation by Mark Teague of Place works on the draft updated Municipal Services Review. The same presentation will be presented at the October 25, 2022 City Council Meeting for Council action.

Also on the Planning Commission Agenda was Conditional Use Permit 2022-307 for AAA Truck Wash to establish a new use within their existing building. The use would be for a passenger vehicle tire and oil change shop. The Planning Commission approved the use.

RECREATION:

Public Art Program:
The Public Art Program deadline was on Monday October 17th. Staff received 5 applications, The applications will be presented to the City Council at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

Youth Basketball:
Youth Basketball registration is open. Please help us spread the word. We are very excited to have the opportunity to bring Youth Basketball back to the kids in our community.

POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Patrol:
In addition to responding to 17246 calls for service, a total of 280 officer reports were taken and there were 92 officer-initiated incidents, including 17 traffic stops. Officers made 10 misdemeanor arrests and 3 felony arrests. Officers issued 14 citations, of which; 9 were misdemeanors, 12 was a felony, 1 was an infraction, and 3 were parking during the period of October 136, 2022, through October 19, 2022.

FIRE DEPARTMENT:

Corning Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) Call Volume:
The Corning Volunteer Fire Department responded to 17 calls for service last week, they consisted of: 12 medicals, 3 fires, 1 traffic collision, and 1 public service.

The Glenn County Volunteer Fire Departments Call Volumes:
The Orland, Capay, Artois, Bayliss, Glenn Codora, Ord Bend and Butte City Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to 21 calls for service last week, they consisted of: 9 medicals, 3 fires, 5 traffic collisions, 1 hazardous condition, 2 investigations, and 1 public service.
