- Bids for the Recreation Center and Community Plaza where received. The City received a total of four bids, with Modern Building Inc. as the apparent low bidder. Staff are working to examine the bid submittal and are working to award a contractor as soon as possible. The award will likely be part of a Special Meeting next week.
- Tehama County has advised the public of a bridge closure on Newville Road at Kendrick Creek. The bridge failed inspections and they are working to get a plan and timeline together for re-opening.
- Staff attended the Library Grand Re-Opening. It was well attended. We are grateful for the library to be open and operational.
- The suicide walk was that was held on Wednesday was a great event and we are thankful for the County hosting this event in our community.
- Empower Tehama’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month will include a Candlelight Walk in Corning on Wednesday, October 8th at Corning Library lawn, 740 3rd St., Corning, 7pm-8pm.

- On September 4th at 5:00p.m. in the City Council Chambers a public meeting was held regarding Community Development Block Grant Program Income Funds the City intends to apply for to resurface the parking lot at Clark Park. Staff received authorization of an application and is working to complete the application.
- Code Enforcement remains active. Citizens can do their part by keeping properties clean and clear of debris and follow State laws and City codes. Additional letters were sent out this week.

BUILDING DEPARTMENT:
This week, the Building Division processed four new permit applications including plans for a new single-family accessory dwelling unit. The division completed sixteen inspections. Among the finalized projects were two electrical panel upgrades, a solar installation, and a commercial tenant improvement.

PLANNING DEPARTMENT:
Tentative Map 25-1002 was approved at the City Council meeting held on 9/9/25.
Staff continue to work on the Housing Element requirements.
Staff is helping with coordination at Homecoming for the Jr. Cardettes to perform at the Football game and walk in the parade.
Staff is working on updating all pool documents, manual, schedule, lesson plans, etc.
Updates on Code Enforcement:
1216 South St – Legal Council is working with the court on receivership appointment.
1518 Marin St – A summons was posted on the property on August 19th, 2025.
800 West St. Received a code enforcement letter regarding the state of their property; we have scheduled a meeting in the upcoming weeks to discuss.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Patrol:
In addition to responding to 169 calls for service, there were 115 officer-initiated incidents, including 49 traffic stops, and a total of 25 officer reports were taken. Officers made 7 misdemeanor arrests, (3 of which were juveniles), 2 felony arrests, (1 of which was a juvenile), issued 6 misdemeanor citations and 8 infractions during the period of September 3, 2025, through September 9, 2025.
Dispatch:
During the period of September 3, 2025, through September 9, 2025, our Dispatch Center received 290 inbound calls for service and made 98 outbound calls. In addition, they responded to 48 incoming 911 calls. All calls were answered within 10 seconds of their ring time.
Training:
All Officers continue to participate in POST Portal Training and Lexipol Daily Training Bulletins. Other POST online training continues for Patrol and Dispatch personnel.
FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Corning Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) Call Volume:
The Corning Volunteer Fire Department responded to 27 calls for service last week, they were:21 medicals, 2 fires, 2 traffic collisions, 1 investigation and 1 public service.
