CITY MANAGER:

Operating Engineers (OE3) Health Insurance Meeting:

Accounting Manager Mary Brimm and I met with Mike McCall, OE3 Director of Benefits, on July 7th regarding coverage issues.

 

Sacramento Valley City Manager’s Meeting:

I attended the Sacramento Valley City Manager’s meeting on July 8th.  One of the items discussed was appropriate and creative uses of American Rescue Plan Act funds.  Most jurisdictions are patiently waiting for clarifying information on qualifying issues of the funds, others felt comfortable in their proposed projects as they could be easily tied to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

PLANNING/RECREATION:

Planning:

Municipal Service Review (MSR):

Staff is continuing work on the MSR update.  All department heads have, or will soon, submit their portions of the MSR for review and inclusion in the update.

 

Recreation:

Food Truck Tuesday:

Staff continues to prepare for the first Food Truck Tuesday event to be held on August 3rd; as of now it is shaping up to be a great evening.  Please share the event dates with everyone you know (the flyer stating the event dates is attached).

 

Recreation Classes:

Summer Recreation Classes have started and are going well.

 

PUBLIC WORKS:

 

Part-Time Public Works Landscape and Maintenance Worker:

The Application submittal deadline has been extended until filled for the part-time Landscape and Maintenance Worker position.  Applications can be found on the City’s website.

 

Water Main/Service Repairs:

  • The valve on the water main at the intersection of Solano Street and El Paso Avenue has been installed.
  • The 8” water main within Solano Street at the intersection of Solano Street and Fripp Avenue ruptured on July 1st. Staff was able to make the repair that evening.
  • Staff is aware of the valve leak at the intersection of Marguerite Avenue and Solano Street and will be repairing it shortly.
  • A service line leak has been discovered at 1700 Palm Avenue, USA has been called in and Staff will make the repair once it has been cleared.

 

POLICE DEPARMENT:

Patrol:

In addition to responding to 188 calls for service, a total of 19 officer reports were taken and there were 89 officer-initiated incidents, including 25 traffic stops.  Officers made 8 misdemeanor and 2 felony arrests.  Officers issued 10 citations, of which; 9 were misdemeanors, and 1 was parking during the period of June 30,2021 through July 7, 2021.

 

Training:

Officers continue to participate in POST Portal Training and Lexipol Daily Training Bulletins.  Other POST on-line training continues for Patrol and Dispatch Personnel.

FIRE DEPARTMENT:

Corning Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) Call Volume:

The Corning Volunteer Fire Department responded to 20 calls for service last week, they consisted of:  13 medicals, 5 fires, and 2 public service.

 

The Orland, Capay, Artois, Bayliss, Glenn Codora, Ord Bend, and Butte City Volunteer Fire Department Call Volumes:

The Orland, Capay, Artois, Bayliss, Glenn Codora, Ord Bend, and Butte City Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to a combined total of 23 calls for service last week, they consisted of:  9 medicals, 6 fires, 5 traffic collisions, and 3 public service.
