Patrol is the "meat and potatoes" of Police Work. It is where officers earn their paychecks. It's also the most dangerous aspect of law enforcement, because of the unpredictability of the general public. Any contact can potentially result in a fatality. Last year, an officer was killed while helping a stranded motorist.

Police Officers walk a fine line between protecting the Constitutional Rights of suspects with victims' right to justice. Though it is sometimes a source of frustration, the Bill of Rights offers important protections that are found in no other country in the world.

Patrol is one of the most effective forms of crime prevention. Just the sight of a police vehicle, occupied or not, effectively controls speeding.
