CITY MANAGER:
Fiscal Year 2021/2022 Proposed Budget:
The Fiscal Year 2021/2022 Proposed Budget will be presented to the City Council as an informational item on June 8, 2021.
Proposition 47 Cohort 1 Restore Program Desk Review:
Accounting Manager Mary Brimm and I met with representatives of the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) for a desk review of the Cohort 1 Proposition 47 Restore Program on June 3rd. BSCC was impressed with our reporting and the program in general.
Corning Subbasin Advisory Meeting:
I attended the Corning Subbasin Advisory meeting on June 2nd. I strongly suggest those that are concerned about groundwater levels attend the meetings. Corning sub-basin meeting and plan information can be found by visiting: https://www.corningsubbasingsp.org/.
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT:
Part-Time Public Works Landscape and Maintenance Worker:
The Application submittal deadline has been extended thru June 11, 2021 for the part-time landscape and maintenance worker position. Applications can be found on the City website.
Library:
The air conditioner motor has gone out at the Library. Parts have been ordered but the delivery has been delayed. We anticipate having the parts by the end of the week and will schedule repairs once the parts area here. The Library will be without AC during this time. The County Librarian has modified the library hours this week to 10:00am – 1:00pm and depending on the forecasted temperatures may adjust the schedule for the following week too.
Multi-Street Improvement Project:
VSS anticipates completing the two coats of fiberized micro-surfacing on all streets by the end of the week. Additional work to be completed in the following weeks will be striping but significant road closures or traffic control will not be required.
POLICE DEPARMENT:
Patrol:
In addition to responding to 162 calls for service, a total of 20 officer reports were taken and there were 60 officer-initiated incidents, including 22 traffic stops. Officers made 8 misdemeanor and 0 felony arrests. Officers issued 11 citations, of which; 7 were misdemeanors, 2 were infractions, and 2 were parking during the period of May 26, 2021 through June 2, 2021.
Training:
Officers continue to participate in POST Portal Training and Lexipol Daily Training Bulletins. Other POST on-line training continues for Patrol and Dispatch Personnel.

FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Corning Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) Call Volume:
The Corning Volunteer Fire Department responded to 21 calls for service last week, they consisted of: 16 medicals, and 5 public service.
The Orland, Capay, Artois, Bayliss, Glenn Codora, Ord Bend, and Butte City Volunteer Fire Department Call Volumes:
The Orland, Capay, Artois, Bayliss, Glenn Codora, Ord Bend, and Butte City Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to a combined total of 25 calls for service last week, they consisted of: 10 medicals, 8 fires, 4 traffic collisions, and 3 public service.
Chief’s Message:
A burn ban is in effect for all Tehama County until further notice. Thank you to all who are taking care of their properties and acknowledging abatement letters.
